Georgian enamel Bilston box
Georgian enamel Bilston box
Description : The finest vitreous enamels in the 1700's came from Bilston England. Many French craftsmen that fled to England created a community there. This gorgeous little box is so startling relevant today. The hands frame the top and hold each other, and the two little hearts swinging in the center have the letters 'C' and '"M" hand written on them. The clouds and rain part to reveal the lovely message, 'Be Happy' and there is a floral border as bright as the day it was created. This beautiful object would make a lovely box for that very special piece of jewelry, but keep any metal in a bag to prevent damaging the enamel surface which is in modest shape for being over 200 years old. 50mm long by 38mm wide and 27mm deep.
